GMCA are seeking an Occupational Health and Wellbeing Senior Advisor to join their team for a 12-month fixed term. This role is crucial in supporting the Wellbeing and Occupational Health Manager function in providing professional advice on workplace wellbeing and occupational health across the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Implement the Wellbeing and Occupational Health Strategy, promoting, preventing, detecting, and treating health and wellbeing risks from recruitment to retirement.
  • Develop pathways, toolkits, campaigns, and networks to ensure mental, physical, and neurological support.
  • Interpret complex data to embed a supportive culture within the organisation.
  • Review and update reasonable adjustment guidance.
  • Implement guidance documents for Wellbeing, Occupational Health, Neurodiversity, and Mental Health.
  • Collaborate with peer support groups and chaplains, develop support pathways with network groups, and create training programs for line managers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience of using assessment tools, producing reports, and advising at case conferences to minimise and prevent presenteeism and absence. 
  • Ability to source, develop, and present training aids to promote awareness, prevent ill-health, and ensure access to interventions.
  • Effective listening and coaching skills, with a focus on long-term projects while prioritising urgent and sensitive tasks.
  • Relevant qualifications in occupational health, occupational therapy, or a related field are preferred.
