About Us:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join one of our primary school as a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support the mental health, wellbeing, and behaviour of children in primary school settings. About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be working with primary school children in both 1:1 and small group settings, supporting those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will help students develop positive behaviours, emotional regulation, and resilience, enabling them to thrive academically and socially. Your role will be key in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment where children feel understood and empowered to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH challenges, promoting their emotional and behavioural development.

Assist in the development and implementation of individualised learning and support plans.

Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to create a tailored, positive learning experience for each student.

Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that helps students feel safe, valued, and confident.

Support the implementation of strategies to improve students’ emotional wellbeing and social skills.

Help students manage and regulate their emotions, building their coping strategies.

Liaise with parents and caregivers to share progress and contribute to the wider support network for the student.

Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and senior staff on a regular basis.
About You:
We are looking for an individual with a background in youth work who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning. You will need to have:

Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in youth work, social care, or a similar field.

Strong understanding of SEMH needs and strategies for supporting mental health and wellbeing.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with children and staff.

A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to working with students.

A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in education.

Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

A desire to develop and grow within the educational sector.
