Head of Payroll & Projects | £80,000-£90,000 + benefits | Media business | Manchester (2-3 days in the office) | Permanent role

A Head of Payroll & Projects is required to work for a leading Media business based in Manchester (hybrid working, 2-3 days per week in the office). This is a newly created role and will be a key member of the finance operations senior leadership team within this well-known brand.

Reporting to the Director of Finance Operations, you will manage a team of 5 direct reports and an indirect team of 15+ within payroll and payments. The main priority of this role is to effectively identify efficiencies within the 2 departments and lead change across the teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategically reviewing the existing processes and team structure to identify areas of improvement in both the organisational chart and operational efficiency
  • Setting out the future strategy for the payroll and payments teams and leading the teams a period of change to improve efficiencies
  • Setting KPI’s and SLA’s across the teams and reporting these back in senior leadership meetings
  • Ensuring service quality Is maintained and exceeded across transactional processing
  • Managing departmental budget and ensuring operational costs are adhered to
  • Working as a key point of contact during both internal and external audits
  • Working as part of the senior leadership team, continuously looking at ways to drive process improvement across departments and support the business in achieving its strategic goals

The successful candidate will have experience leading payroll teams, this will include proven examples of where you have managed the strategic planning for the department, reviewed resourcing requirements and team structures, and have led change. Experience working for a larger, more complex business is essential. Experience managing payments team as well as payroll is also beneficial. You will thrive in a leadership role where you will interact with stakeholders at all levels and will enjoy developing a large team during a period of change.
