My client is a growing business and they are looking to recruit a Sourcing Specialist for their team.

As a Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for discovering and building relationships with suppliers worldwide to secure high-quality products at the lowest prices. You will conduct research, reach out to potential vendors, negotiate deals, and collaborate with the broader sourcing team to maximize cost savings and stock opportunities. This role requires an outgoing and organised professional with a strategic mindset and a passion for relationship-building and negotiation.

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Identification & Outreach:

    • Conduct targeted market research and explore online sources, LinkedIn, and store visits to identify and engage new supplier contacts.
    • Proactively reach out to prospective suppliers across various product categories, introducing the businesses sourcing needs and securing competitive proposals.
    • Maintain a consistent pipeline of potential suppliers by regularly updating contacts, following up, and scheduling meetings for deeper relationship-building.
  • Negotiation & Deal Facilitation:
    • Work closely with the sourcing team to assess stock options and determine potential product fits based on cost and quality benchmarks.
    • Negotiate terms, pricing, and order quantities to maximize cost savings and secure favourable deals that meet company objectives.
    • Coordinate with heads of departments to arrange in-person and showroom meetings, enabling key stakeholders to evaluate supplier offerings directly.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers, fostering open communication and regular engagement to ensure alignment on product quality, pricing, and timelines.
    • Schedule and coordinate sample requests and manage the approval process to verify quality and assess the viability of new products for our customers.
  • Data Management & Reporting:
    • Document outcomes of every supplier interaction, tracking communication history, pricing updates, and contact status.
    • Meet daily targets for phone calls, follow-ups, and reporting while keeping meticulous records of ongoing negotiations and supplier interactions.
    • Prepare and present weekly or monthly summaries of sourcing activity, outcomes, and market insights to support data-driven decision-making within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities with a focus on achieving targets and meeting deadlines.
    • Proficiency in Excel; experience with procurement or CRM software is a plus.
  • Other Requirements:
    • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Comfortable with in-person meetings and showroom presentations when needed, as well as daily communication by phone and email.
