AV Operations Manager–£40,000 basic + Bonuses, OTE £60,000– Manchester

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee our AV operations and event production initiatives.

You will lead the planning, execution and delivery of AV operations and event production, ensuring the highest quality service for our clients. From managing equipment to coordinating large-scale events, this role requires hands-on technical skills, strong organisation, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Audio-Visual Operations:

  • Oversee all aspects of AV operations, including project planning, execution, and evaluation
  • Manage inventory, equipment maintenance, and logistics for AV installations and events
  • Lead and mentor a team of AV technicians, ensuring high-quality service delivery
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
  • Stay updated on the latest AV technologies and industry trends.

Event Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events from conception to completion
  • Develop innovative event concepts, themes, and timelines in collaboration with clients and stakeholders
  • Manage event budgets, track expenses, and negotiate contracts with vendors to optimize resources
  • Coordinate all logistical details, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, and technical requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, sponsors, and stakeholders, addressing inquiries promptly.

The Person

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the AV industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of audio-visual systems, including sound, lighting, and video technologies.
  • Proven track record in project management and team leadership, with a focus on AV productions.
  • Be local to Manchester with full UK driving license.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, adept at managing client relationships and negotiations.
  • Proficiency in project management software and AV-specific tools.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a well-organised and calm approach to work.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven, with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Commercially savvy, comfortable working towards set margins and targets.
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety procedures in the AV and events industry.
  • Confident, outgoing, and resilient attitude, capable of thriving in dynamic environments.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours and travel as required for event management.
