A Security Architect is required for our client based in Manchester for a 12-month fixed term contract (likelihood to extend to 18 months). This is a hybrid position, around 1 day per week on site however the location of work is primarily dictated by the needs of the business. If appointed to the role you will work with your manager to agree and regularly review the best working pattern.

Working as a part of the Digital Architecture function you will:

  • Implement, develop, deliver, and support security designs that match stakeholder’s requirements, and result in measurable business outcomes.
  • Be responsible for transitioning solutions into the live working environment and ensuring that support teams have the necessary knowledge to run the solution in production.
  • Research and apply innovative security architecture solutions to new or existing problems and be able to justify and communicate design decisions
  • Be responsible for ensuring that solutions meet defined architectural goals that include usability (user experience), performance, capacity, security, availability, maintainability and governance.
  • Work with and advise other technical SMEs to ensure that a fully collaborative approach to design is achieved.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s technical architecture is secure by design.

We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the following:

  • Wide breadth of technical knowledge across all technologies within Digital Services.
  • Good understanding of project management and in particular risk and issue management.
  • Understanding of the Agile Project methodologies.
  • Ability to transition new solutions over to support teams in an effective and well documented way to enable them to provide the required break-fix and management of the service.
  • Able to demonstrate good knowledge in the design and build of resilient, enterprise class, Microsoft based environments covering several the following key technologies:
    • Azure
    • Office 365
    • SQL Server
    • IIS
    • System Center
    • Windows Server
    • Identity Management
  • Thorough knowledge of web infrastructure, TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DMZ, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of web servers and network load balancers.
  • Business awareness in relation to availability, capacity, security, and maintainability of an organisation’s IT systems.

Desirable

  • Microsoft or other vendor certifications within the relevant area
  • TOGAF Certified
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management
  • Certification such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals.
  • Experience of working with security frameworks (e.g. ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials, etc.) and incident management best practice (e.g. NIST, NCSC, etc.).
