Job Title: Principal/Associate Planning Consultant
Location: Manchester or Sheffield - North of England (Hybrid Working)

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Planning Consultant at Principal/Associate level to join an ambitious and progressive Planning and Environmental team based in the North of England. The team is involved in major infrastructure projects across the UK, including water, transport, energy, and housing developments. You will have the opportunity to work on nationally significant projects for both public and private sector clients, providing strategic planning advice, delivering high-quality reports, and managing complex multi-disciplinary projects.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and submission of planning applications, including TCPA, Development Consent Orders (DCO), and Transport Works Act Orders (TWAO)
- Development and implementation of planning strategies to deliver client objectives
- Managing planning applications and delivering evidence-based studies to support policy development and consenting processes
- Collaborating with internal and external specialists to deliver complex projects on time and within budget
- Building and maintaining client relationships, developing new business, and supporting the team's growth
- Delivering reports, presentations, and expert advice to clients and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Town and Country Planning (RTPI accredited) with Chartered RTPI membership
- Proven track record in planning consultancy or a local authority planning team
- Strong understanding of planning law, processes, and commercial awareness
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects, with excellent client management and stakeholder engagement skills
- High-quality report writing, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate complex planning issues to non-specialists
