Civil Liberties Solicitor Location: Manchester Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid Working (2-3 days in the office)A prestigious law firm known for its dedication to civil liberties is looking to expand its team with an experienced Civil Liberties Solicitor. This role offers the chance to make a tangible impact by advocating for clients’ rights and upholding justice in complex and challenging cases. The position will be based in Manchester with the flexibility of hybrid working.Key Responsibilities
  • Client Representation: Represent clients in civil actions, from case inception through to resolution, including court representation.
  • Case Management: Handle a varied and complex caseload independently, ensuring thorough preparation and diligent follow-through.
  • Legal Research & Drafting: Conduct detailed legal research, draft compelling legal documents, and provide strategic case advice.
  • Compliance: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of key legislation, including the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and the Human Rights Act.
  • Mentorship: Guide and support junior lawyers, sharing knowledge and best practices in civil liberties law.
  • Continuous Development: Stay informed about legal developments, applying changes in legislation to ensure compliance and best practice in all cases.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience handling litigative cases, with a focus on civil liberties.
  • Expertise: Deep understanding of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, Human Rights Act, and the Coronial process.
  • Legal Aid Experience: Prior experience working with legal aid clients is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong advocacy, communication, and analytical skills; ability to work autonomously and manage a busy, diverse caseload.
  • Passion for Justice: A commitment to defending civil rights and a proven track record of upholding justice in legal proceedings.
