- Client Representation: Represent clients in civil actions, from case inception through to resolution, including court representation.
- Case Management: Handle a varied and complex caseload independently, ensuring thorough preparation and diligent follow-through.
- Legal Research & Drafting: Conduct detailed legal research, draft compelling legal documents, and provide strategic case advice.
- Compliance: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of key legislation, including the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and the Human Rights Act.
- Mentorship: Guide and support junior lawyers, sharing knowledge and best practices in civil liberties law.
- Continuous Development: Stay informed about legal developments, applying changes in legislation to ensure compliance and best practice in all cases.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience handling litigative cases, with a focus on civil liberties.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, Human Rights Act, and the Coronial process.
- Legal Aid Experience: Prior experience working with legal aid clients is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong advocacy, communication, and analytical skills; ability to work autonomously and manage a busy, diverse caseload.
