Proactive Personnel are currently recruiting for a warehouse supervisor/manager for a successful transport and logistics company based in Trafford Park. This is a great opportunity to join a growing business that is known for its quality service and operational performance. This position is full time days with occasional Saturday morning shifts (paid as overtime).

Purpose of the Warehouse supervisor/manager position:

To manage the team and to assist personally in the day to day running of the warehouse. To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company operational procedures and statutory requirements including Health & Safety to the satisfaction of clients and the profit of the company.

Key tasks:

  • Communicate effectively in a professional manner with customers to ensure their freight is picked, quotations and traffic requirements are fulfilled in line with their booked instructions
  • Process warehouse picks through company WMS system, Pall-Ex Nexus and company TMS
  • Load/unload/transfer cargo onto vehicles, storing and packaging in accordance with any specified instructions or customers requirements and without damage
  • Ensure all shifts are staffed and covered for Holidays, sickness or authorised absences with flexible working arrangements
  • Ensure best practice for operational costs, use of warehouse equipment
  • Ensure service and profitability levels are developed/maintained in accordance with departmental budgets/targets.
  • Ensure legislative compliance in all areas.
  • Ensure that the company operates within all agreed operational procedures, and within statutory requirements including the provision and maintenance of a safe working environment.
  • Motivate/guide team members to achieve targets and to work to their full potential.
  • Impart Knowledge, procedures, and legal requirements to team members by coaching and training as needed.
  • Prioritise key tasks and workload to achieve best results with available resources within the department.
  • Ensure all relevant administrative procedures are followed and completed accurately according to deadlines.
  • Answer all queries, complaints and solve operational problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Identify and report to management on the department’s needs and requirements.
  • Develop, obtain, new business and clients, maintain and grow existing business in relevant traffic by focusing on customer maintenance, desk quotations and support to management and directors
  • Ensure company and customer requirements are fulfilled and the client’s needs or requirements are met.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships within the location in order to improve knowledge and relationships
  • Identify, fulfil and review training and development needs of all subordinates within the department on an ongoing basis.
