A nationwide, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy are looking for a Chartered or near-Chartered Senior Structural Engineer with an interest in building appraisal to join them in their brand-new Manchester City Centre office near Spinningfields.
The company have 10 offices across the UK and their Manchester of over 30 staff is split across several disciplines including Structural, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineering.
The right candidate for this role will have a minimum of 6+ years' industry experience in a consultancy environment and be well-versed in site visits and client liaison. This is an excellent role for someone who is stimulated by getting out of the office and away from behind a computer screen. That being said, over 50% of the role will include design work on a wide range of projects and project sectors across the UK.
The company also provide an extremely flexible working-from-home arrangement for this role and you may only be required in the office 1+ times per week.
Responsibilities of a Senior Structural Engineer:
- Undertake thorough site investigations, complete inspections, and identify and resolve any issues as appropriate.
- Undertake project design from commencement to completion.
- Represent the company at design team meetings.
- Manage, encourage, support and motivate junior Engineers and Technicians in the process of project design.
- Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development and maintain CPD records in accordance with the requirements of the Institution of Structural Engineers and/or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
- Deliver high-quality designs, drawings, and reports using engineering materials including concrete, steel, masonry, timber, etc., together with soils, foundations and drainage, and in a form that can readily be checked by another member of staff.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Manage your pool of resources effectively and efficiently to ensure successful outcomes for all projects under your remit.
