The Policy and Strategy Officer is a pivotal role in the strategy, policy and research team. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead, develop and implement policy strategies and initiatives that will directly effect people in the North of England.

Description
Policy and Process Development
- Act as a policy lead for specific areas, and supporting in others. Developing new/enhanced systems, processes and policies in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Reflect the specific policy areas across various workstreams and priorities in order to meet the requirements of a large report and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Prepare briefings, proposals and consultation responses across a range of policy areas as required.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, in order to ensure and influence the successful delivery of initiatives and policy positions.
- Support Local Transport Authorities and Mayoral Combined Authorities in the development and implementation of their Local Transport Plans, acting as a key point of contact.
Project Management
- Support with potential to lead in the commissioning and delivery of strategic projects and initiatives that cross workstreams and priorities, in order to improve strategic planning and create value for partners
Data Collection and Analysis
- Research primary data sources, select relevant information, analyse key themes and trends and make recommendations to inform policy development.
Profile
The successful Policy and Strategy Officer should have:
- A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
- Considerable experience of working in transport strategy and policy with a specialism in a particular area.
- Considerable experience in analysing information and evidence, and making difficult decisions and recommendations.
- Experience of building strong and productive relationships with senior people both internally and with external partners.
- Strong experience of planning and organising own work and the work of others (internal or external) over the medium term.
- Good communication skills with the ability to persuade, influence and adapt communication style to different situations and individuals.
- Experience of managing budgets and undertaking accurate monthly project and programme reporting.
- Experience of leading the development of transport policies and supporting business case development.
- Experience in influencing others to achieve required policy outcomes and ensure robust strategy/business case development.
Job Offer

A competitive salary of £45,000 - £51,000 per annum.
