Policy & Strategy Officer - Manchester

Location: Manchester

Salary: 45,000 - 50,0000 Per Annum

Fixed Term Contact: Full time, maternity leave cover (until end of February 2026)

Hybrid working 2-3 days per week in the office and 2-3 days per week at home.

Role Overview and Responsibilities:

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a local authority that is looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Policy and Strategy Officer. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's strategy and policy direction, ensuring alignment with our client's overall objectives and driving positive change across the transport and economic growth sectors.

You will be expected to build strong relationships both internally and externally. Able to influence, shape and challenge across the strategy and policy team. You will also co-ordinate the development and implementation of new and existing strategy and policy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and influence policy decisions
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on strategy and policy matters
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of new initiatives
  • Contribute to evidence-based decision making and support the Strategic Transport Plan (STP) & the three strategic ambitions (economic growth, decarbonisation and reducing transport-related social exclusion).

Experience and Education

  • Degree qualified - Ideally Master's degree or equivalent experience but flexible on the degree subject
  • Experience working in a Corporate role, ideally within the Public sector so you are used to Local Authorities, DfT, NHS, Network Rail, National Highways etc..
