Associate Director - Town PlanningLocation: Northwest - Manchester / Hybrid Working

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a UK leading Planning Consultancy who is looking for an Associate Planning Director to lead exciting and impactful projects as part of their Northern team.

This role can be offered on a hybrid / remote basis with the office base being in central Manchester.

Role Overview:As Associate Planning Director, you will lead a variety of planning projects, manage teams, and deliver high-quality solutions across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. You'll work closely with clients, stakeholders, and planning authorities to ensure projects meet all regulatory requirements, align with strategic goals, and stay on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee planning projects from start to finish, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Offer expert guidance to clients, helping them navigate complex planning challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior planners, fostering an environment of collaboration and creativity.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and business development of the planning team.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in Town Planning (or a related field), with chartered status (MRTPI) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in planning and development, with a successful track record of delivering projects, ideally with some experience of infrastructure and renewables.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects while working well within collaborative teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of the planning system and relevant policies/legislation.
