Location: Manchester - Wirral

Gross rate: £30.00p/ h – £32.00p/h DOE

My client is a leading UK engineering projects and installations company, managing large installs for major blue chips food & beverage manufacturers UK wide. They are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor, for a 6-month contract, with the likelihood of extension.

You will oversee a small teams of installation engineers across based in the Northwest, within food process manufacturing.

The Mechanical Supervisor position will include the following responsibilities:

  • Supervise a small team of installation engineers, including travel to customer sites (The Wirral)
  • Split responsibilities: 50% hands-on work, 50% supervisory/office duties while on-site
  • Oversee and assist with dismantling and re-installing equipment
  • Ensure all pipework and process plant components are efficiently removed and organized for reinstallation
  • Monitor project progress and order necessary parts and materials
  • Ensure compliance with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMs), and draft RAMs as needed
  • Prepare reports and quotations for smaller customer projects (typically valued at £10k-£20k)
  • Adhere to company standards and procedures in collaboration with management

Skills and qualifications required for the Mechanical Supervisor role:

  • Time-served background in mechanical engineering, fabrication, welding, or pipefitting
  • Ideally holds SSSTS, JIB card, or black/gold safety card
  • Proven experience in supervising small teams to meet project goals
  • Essential experience in the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical process industries
  • Proficient in IT, including MS Outlook and Excel
  • Must provide own industry-standard tools
  • Willingness to travel across the North West (Manchester, The Wirral, etc.)
