Production Team Leader

Lead the safe and compliant processing of material segregation in the depot andto support and report directly to Shift Manager. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with strong critical thinking and a strong technical skill set who wants to progress and take the next step up in their career.

Salary: £24,544 + opportunity for overtime at 1.5 Monday-Saturday and x2 on a Sunday + 5% bonus (based on plant performance) + 4.5% company pension scheme

Location: Partington, M31

Hours:06:00-14:30 / 14:00-22:30 rotating. (20 minutes paid break and a 30 minutes unpaidResponsibilities:

  • Safe operation of processes on site
  • Operation of baler panel and SCADA system
  • Ensuring tasks are undertaken safely and compliantly on site
  • Leading a team of operators (11 direct reports).
  • Effective planning and prioritisation of work in the facility
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping across the facility
  • Delivering Toolbox talks on safety and compliance matters
  • Ensuring works commences at the contracted times
  • Ensuring production targets are met
  • Supporting maintenance activities.
  • Implementation of and compliance with all company administrative policies.
  • Adherence to statutory requirements e.g. Environment Agency

Duties:

  • Ensure all staff, contractors and visitors are following Site Rules and undertaking their tasks safely and compliantly.
  • Ensure that vehicles are turned around in a timely manner.
  • Fill in for Shift Manager and Plant Operators during breaks and periods of annual leave.
  • Liaise with the Site Management with regards to operations and performance.
  • Working and leading a team within a shift-based system.
  • Ensure production operators are undertaking their tasks as required by the business needs.
  • Plant availability and utilisation targets are met through management of staff, maintenance and housekeeping.
  • To ensure that bales of material meet the desired quality specification through inspection and "dressing".
  • Identifying areas of improvement and ensuring corrective action is undertaken
  • Demonstrate safe working practices and influence a health and safety culture

Candidate Requirements:

  • Understanding/knowledge of IOSH practices
  • Production or manufacturing background working in a fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of driving process improvements
  • Understanding of Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management policies, systems and requirements
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written English
  • Flexible attitude, desire to learn new skills and to succeed.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
