Your new companyA globally renowned manufacturing company with an excellent reputation is seeking an experienced Strategic Buyer to join their team for an initial 12 month period whilst the company embarks on an exciting new technology project.Your new roleWorking within the Direct Procurement team, the Strategic Buyer will be responsible for leading on negotiations with suppliers to deliver the best value for money, without compromising on the quality of products or service level. You will be responsible for delivering KPIs relating to cost, quality, service and continuity of material supply throughout the supply chain. Working closely with the Purchasing Manager, you will devise and develop procurement strategies within your category area which will help to achieve company goals and objectives. The Buyer will keep a close working relationship with suppliers and key stakeholders, which will entail semi-regular travel to mainland Europe.You will strive to reduce risk within the supply chain, which will involve carrying out supplier risk assessments and you will ensure that supply agreements are based upon formal terms and conditions.What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience of working in a strategic procurement / purchasing role
  • Extensive experience of negotiating commercial terms with suppliers
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of / experience using SAP and other IT systems
  • Commercially astute
  • Experienced with devising procurement strategies
  • Able to commit to a 12 month fixed-term contract
  • Willingness to travel to mainland Europe as and when required
