Packaging Buyer

Greater Manchester / South Manchester

£40,000 - £50,000 plus excellent benefits

Our client is an awarding winning textiles manufacturer, supplying UK High Street retailers, Major Supermarkets and Online retailers. They now have a fantastic opportunity for a Packaging Buyer to join the business. Operating across 2 sites in North and South Manchester you will become part of an established, dynamic buying team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all packaging across all departments and products categories. This would include:
  • Printed poly bags
  • Non-woven bags
  • Card inserts and wrap bands
  • Commodity shippers and cartons
  • Printed shippers
  • Work with multiple stakeholders such as purchasing, buying, design and marketing
  • Gatekeeper for the project management of packaging and design in line with the critical path
  • Overall lead and responsibility for packaging innovation, value engineering and cost saving.
  • Control and report on all packaging projects from budgets to barriers for project progression.
  • Responsible for attending print runs and final gold seal approval to ensure Brand consistency across ranges
  • Have an understanding of commodities pricing, packaging tax, etc

What will you need?

  • Desire to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, you will want to leave your mark and make a difference.
  • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills. Able to prioritise workload across multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met, with an ability to multitask.
  • First class communication skills, able to work cross functionally and build key relationships across departments.
  • Laser-like attention to detail. You will have a relentless focus on right first time delivery.
  • Driving licence requirement to travel between offices in Wilmslow and Middleton.
