Interim Senior Category Manager

Rate: £450-£500 per day (Inside IR35)
Our client, a local authority in Greater Manchester, is seeking an experienced Interim Senior Category Manager to lead procurement across Construction and Highways categories. This role is ideal for a procurement professional with a strong track record in managing complex procurement projects, ensuring value for money, and driving compliance with procurement legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver high-value category procurement exercises for goods, works, and services that meet customer and community needs.
- Manage complex procurements with significant impact on stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies.
- Work within politically and publicly sensitive markets, demonstrating expertise in shaping procurement strategies.
- Oversee multiple procurements with challenging budget implications, including cross-organisational dependencies.
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date procurement project pipeline in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Design and implement procurement category strategies that challenge traditional delivery models and align with corporate objectives.

- Extensive experience in category management, with a focus on construction and highways.
- Proven ability to manage high-impact procurement projects within a public sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, compliance, and best practices.
