Interim Senior Category Manager

Location: Oldham (Hybrid Working)

Length: 6 months

Rate: £450-£500 per day (Inside IR35)

Our client, a local authority in Greater Manchester, is seeking an experienced Interim Senior Category Manager to lead procurement across Construction and Highways categories. This role is ideal for a procurement professional with a strong track record in managing complex procurement projects, ensuring value for money, and driving compliance with procurement legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver high-value category procurement exercises for goods, works, and services that meet customer and community needs.
  • Manage complex procurements with significant impact on stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies.
  • Work within politically and publicly sensitive markets, demonstrating expertise in shaping procurement strategies.
  • Oversee multiple procurements with challenging budget implications, including cross-organisational dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date procurement project pipeline in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Design and implement procurement category strategies that challenge traditional delivery models and align with corporate objectives.
