Job Overview:

Mech Electrics are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our clients' team on a prestigious M&E project in Manchester City Centre which will be starting in quarter 1 of 2025. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing the cost and commercial aspects of M&E projects, JCT contract experience and be able to ensure the delivery of the project within budget and on schedule. You will be a key member of the project team, working alongside senior management, project managers, and other stakeholders to provide expert cost advice and support throughout the project lifecycle which is expected to be 2.5 years.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Contract:
Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates and budgets.
Participate in the procurement process, including the preparation of tender documentation, analysis, and recommendations.
Support the preparation of contract documentation and agreements.
Post-Contract:
Monitor and report on project costs and financial performance, ensuring the project is delivered within budget.
Prepare and submit regular cost reports to the project team, highlighting key issues and suggesting corrective actions.
Manage the valuation process, including interim payments and final accounts.
Conduct site visits and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and to ensure value for money.
Ensure compliance with the contractual terms and conditions.
Prepare variations, claims, and change orders as required.
Project Management:
Coordinate with the project management team to ensure financial objectives are achieved.
Assist in managing cash flow and forecasts.
Provide advice and support on contract interpretation, disputes, and claims management.
Monitor and control risks associated with cost and contractual issues.
Client Liaison:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Ensure clear and transparent communication with stakeholders on cost-related matters.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of all commercial activities related to the project.

Skills & Experience Required:

Qualifications:
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (MRICS preferred).
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the building services sector, particularly on M&E projects.
Experience with prestigious, high-value projects is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of M&E systems, cost estimation, and commercial management.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in industry-standard software such as CostX, Excel, or similar.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor role, particularly within M&E services.
Experience working on large-scale commercial or residential projects.
Proven ability to manage the cost control process from inception to completion.
