Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Manchester
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in house building or main contracting to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring cost-effective delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the quantity surveying function across multiple projects, from tender through to final account.
- Develop and implement cost control strategies to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
- Oversee contract negotiations, procurement, and risk management processes.
- Provide accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Assess and manage project variations, change orders, and valuations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant construction contracts and regulations.
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors within the team.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct commercial reviews and provide strategic input to optimize project performance.
- Monitor and manage project cash flow, payments, and financial risk.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, specifically house building or main contracting.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement, and commercial management.
- Proficiency in cost estimation, financial reporting, and risk assessment.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Membership of a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is desirable.
