Senior Finance Assistant Role Overview:

NC Associates are supporting an excellent city centre organisation with a requirement for a Senior Finance Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to join a business that is actively involved in supporting Manchester to be the city that we all know and love. You will report directly to the Head of Finance and Management Accountant to ensure the smooth operation of all finance matters for multiple business entities.

This position will take full and independent responsibility for all transactional accounting and reporting activity and so will require previous experience in a similar capacity with the ability to manage output to ensure that strict time frames are met.

This is a varied and fulfilling position that can provide excellent exposure to accounting processes within this sector.

Senior Finance Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Effectively planning, organising and managing own workload to ensure monthly financial reporting processes are achieved in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Processing of purchase invoices with their respective purchase orders, ensuring invoices are accurately matched, recorded, signed off, coded and paid correctly.
  • Accurately raising and sending of sales invoices
  • preparation of monthly debtor statements
  • Proactive credit control to ensure that outstanding amounts are settled within agreed terms.
  • Allocation of incoming payments to relevant accounts.
  • Assist in the production of month end reports and the preparation of spreadsheets.
  • Reconciliation and posting of credit card expenditure to the general ledger.
  • Reconciliation of head office expenditure, coding and posting.
  • Weekly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Liaising with suppliers and customers as required, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Support with Payroll processing occasionally as required.
  • Supporting with budgeting and recording of actual spend variances.
  • Assist the Management Accountant with month-end and year-end year preparation and procedures.

Senior Finance Assistant Required Experience: 

  • Previous experience in a similar capacity with responsibility over all transactional accounting processes.
  • Experience of; end to end Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger processes, Credit Control and Bank Reconciliations is essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work from own initiative to ensure effective time management.
  • The ability to effectively prioritise workloads to ensure that strict time deadlines can be achieved.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to process high volumes of financial data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through professional communication.
  • Excellent computerised accounting skills – Advanced Excel and previous use of Sage 50.
  • A motivated approach to tasks and duties with a self-starter mentality.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience of working in a commercially confidential environment.
  • A customer focussed approach and mentality.
  • A passion and desire to excel in an accounting career pathway.
  • AAT/ Degree qualifications are highly advantageous but not essential.
