The Project
As an experienced Plant Fitter, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery for a range of projects, including earthworks, drainage, demolition, coastal defence, and civil engineering across the North West. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring that key machinery, such as excavators, dozers, loaders, and crushers, remains in peak operational condition, minimising downtime and optimising productivity. This position is crucial to the successful execution and seamless operation of large-scale infrastructure projects in the region, directly contributing to their efficiency and timely completion.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;
- Blue CSCS card
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering Qualifications (desirable but not essential)
- Valid UK driving license (HGV license is also desirable but not essential)
It is also essential that you hold the experience below;
- Proven history of maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery for earthworks, drainage, coastal defence & infrastructure improvements projects
- A comprehensive background in the industry in a Plant Fitter role or a similar position, with hands-on experience operating and maintaining heavy machinery such as HGVs, excavators, dozers, loaders, and crushers

- A solid understanding of mechanical systems
- Strong communication and attention to details
- Proficient in utilising relevant diagnostics tools, identifying mechanical faults effectively
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team

Duties
- Conduct regular and efficient risk assessments
- Address machinery breakdowns and emergency repairs promptly
- Maintain thorough documentation of all maintenance and repair work performed
- Confirm that all machinery complies with safety standards and company policies
- Use advanced diagnostics to identify mechanical issues and apply effective solutions
- Liaise with the operations team to plan maintenance activities while minimizing project disruptions
- Guide and advise team members on the correct utlisation of maintenance procedures for equipment
- Installing and assembling plant equipment and machinery at construction sites or manufacturing facilities
- Providing guidance to other team members or operators on the proper use and maintenance of equipment
- Inspecting machinery for signs of wear and tear, performing diagnostic tests, and recommending replacements or upgrades as needed
- Installing upgrades, modifications, and new components to improve machinery efficiency or comply with updated safety standards
- Conduct regular maintenance and urgent repairs on heavy plant machinery to maintain peak performance and ensure safety
- Consistently informing management about the condition of machinery, upcoming maintenance plans, and any major repairs needed
- Cooperating with maintenance staff, engineers, and the operations team to maintain a smooth workflow and prevent any disruptions.
