Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in English for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5 students.

  • Develop and implement schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum and school policies.

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to foster a love of literature, language, and critical thinking.

  • Support students in achieving academic success by providing high-quality teaching and tailored interventions.

  • Mark and assess students' work, providing constructive feedback to promote progress and attainment.

Curriculum Development:

  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of the English curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners.

  • Stay informed about changes in curriculum guidelines and examination requirements.

  • Develop and share high-quality teaching resources to enhance departmental effectiveness.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish high expectations for behaviour and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

  • Implement school behaviour policies effectively to promote mutual respect and responsibility.

  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all students within the classroom and school environment.

Professional Development and Collaboration:

  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff briefings, and whole-school events as required.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of teaching strategies.

  • Attend and engage in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance subject knowledge and pedagogy.

Parental Engagement:

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding students' progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.

  • Participate in parent evenings and provide constructive feedback on student performance.
