Are you a specialist SEND teacher? Do you have experience of teaching primary aged students with autism? Are you looking for a new opportunity from September? New Directions is proud to be working in partnership with a SEND primary setting in Trafford that is looking to recruit a SEND Teacher for the new academic year. This specialist setting caters for primary aged learners with autism and complex needs. Well staffed and resourced, this state of the art school is the perfect environment for a specialist SEND teacher looking for an exciting new opportunity.

As a SEND Teacher you'll be expected to:

  • To have a solid understanding of SEND and specifically ASD;
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment.
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges.
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.
  • Maintain discipline.
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupil's development.
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area.
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.

To apply the candidate must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience of working in a SEND school or a SEND class within a mainstream school
  • Knowledge of SEND
  • Able to provide Referees
  • An up-to-date DBS Check (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
