Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team, providing classroom support across primary schools in South and Central Manchester. As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and delivering high-quality education to children, helping ensure an effective and enriching learning environment.

You will be required to cover classes on a daily basis, stepping in as needed to support lesson delivery and classroom management across multiple schools in the area. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic, ever-changing educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Support: Deliver high-quality teaching and learning support to students, following lesson plans and adapting them to meet individual needs.
  • Covering Lessons: Step into classrooms on a daily basis to cover classes as needed, providing continuity and ensuring a smooth learning experience for students.
  • Assist Teachers: Support classroom teachers with the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons. Assist with the assessment and recording of students' progress.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, using effective behaviour management techniques and encouraging student engagement.
  • Individual Student Support: Provide tailored support to students with additional needs, including those with special educational needs or behavioural challenges, as appropriate.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, and parents to support the development and well-being of students.
  • Monitor and Record Progress: Assist in tracking student progress, providing feedback to teachers, and contributing to reports on student development.
Person Specification:
  • Qualified HLTA: Hold a recognised HLTA qualification, degree level educated or equivalent experience in the education sector.
  • Experience in Primary Education: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in primary school settings is essential. Experience covering classes and supporting teachers in a variety of classroom settings is desirable.
  • Strong Classroom Management Skills: Ability to effectively manage and support the learning environment with a proactive approach to behaviour management.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to adapt quickly to new classroom settings, taking on different teaching styles, and working with students of varying abilities and needs.
  • Team Player: Willing to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and school leadership to ensure a seamless educational experience for students.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with children, teachers, and parents.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A clear understanding of child protection procedures and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment for all students.
