Junior Designer - Ladieswear

An exciting opportunity for a ladieswear designer (maternity cover) to join a growing team in a well-established company, selling in-house brands and white label to UK and International customers. Specialising in the design, manufacture and import of Ladies, men’s & Junior’s apparel for retailers, e-commerce and independently owned stores.

The Role:

To design, as part of the Ladieswear team, Ladieswear ranges and deal with suppliers, to result in a full Ladieswear collection being produced in accordance with seasonal deadlines.

The nature of the job holder’s role is very time sensitive; ranges need to be produced within strict deadlines as directed by the head of ladieswear design.

Responsible for:

  • Designing ranges within certain product areas, for Ladieswear, as directed.
  • Creating seasonal mood boards, colour palettes, tech packs and initial design specs.
  • Liaising with other members of staff and supporting the head of design in predicting and designing within market trends.
  • To Work closely with the sales team, merchandisers and the Garment Technologists to ensure a coherent range is produced.
  • Give comments and approvals on garment samples, lab dips, etc as required.
  • Liaising with suppliers and factories to organise the sampling of the designed ranges within seasonal timelines. enabling a smooth sampling process.
  • Being involved in meetings with customers / buyers to present our ranges.
  • Being involved in fit sessions, when required.
  • Occasionally Visiting trade shows and partake in shopping trips as required.

Knowledge

  • MUST have 12 months experience in a similar role.
  • A background in fashion studies,
  • Working knowledge of ladieswear designing.
  • Knowledge of what the current and future market trends are.
  • Excellent communication, organisational skills.
