Residential Childrens Care Worker opportunities in Manchester

Location: Children's Residential Home, for 8 - 18 years in Manchester

Hours: 2 on, 4 off (173 hours on average per month) or 3 on 3 off (243 hours on average per month). Additional Sleep Ins at £60/night.

Salary: £11.44ph

Contract: temporary to permanent

The home supports children and young people with high end criminal exploitation risk, therefore, experience of working in a similar role is essential.

As a children's residential Care worker, you will

  • To support all the children and young people in our care. To help in providing a fulfilling environment where the children and young people can develop to their full potential.
  • To provide support in all areas of personal, education and social needs, both in the home and the community, in accordance with the agreed support plan and within an agreed plan of risk taking.
  • To facilitate increased independence by encouraging and supporting participation in education, daily living activities and opportunities.
  • To work with people, their families, team members and partner organisations to ensure that support is tailored to meet their individual needs and wishes.
  • To use a range of communication methods to assist people to make informed decisions and choices about the issues affecting their lives.
  • To follow best practice guidance regarding Safeguarding, Care Standards Act, Health and Safety and managing risks legislation to promote independence.
  • Supporting the children and young people on holiday, to include overnight stops away from the normal place of work.

The above list of duties is not exhaustive and may be modified from time to time in accordance with the development of the service and the employee.

To be considered for this role: You must -

  • Have at least 1 years previous experience of working in a children's residential Home and SEMH.
  • Have experience of working with children and young people who have experienced criminal exploitation, gangs etc
  • Awareness of and commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all.
  • Willingness to undertake training as required and to learn and develop new skills, including Level 3 Diploma, if not already obtained.
  • Be willing to undertake any required QCF qualifications
  • Be an effective communicator.
  • Be passionate and dedicated to improving the lives of young people.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
