Your new companyA leading engineering manufacturing company based in Trafford Park is seeking a dynamic and energetic Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager to lead their function. This business has earned a great name for themselves and is a market leader within their industry.Your new roleThe Purchasing Manager will be responsible for all sourcing activity on behalf of the organisation, and will primarily be focused around purchasing raw materials, though there will still be an element of indirect procurement. Managing a Junior Buyers, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the team performance and savings targets.The Purchasing Manager will work with stakeholders across the business to establish procurement needs, and you will be able to read technical engineering drawings.In this role, you will strive to deliver tangible cost savings and drive efficiencies for the company, thus improving bottom line profits. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven procurement and purchasing professional to join a globally recognised company and make the necessary changes to optimise performance levels and cost savings. This will involve reviewing current spend levels and supplier base and analysing the market to identify commercial opportunities to ensure that all suppliers are fit for purpose and delivering the best value. You will also review and manage the performance of contracts.Please note that this role is based in the office 5 days per week and does not offer hybrid working.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Prior procurement experience from within an engineering manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read technical engineering drawings (essential)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership experience
  • A confident negotiator
  • Good level of IT skills including Microsoft Office
