The University's Project Group are seeking to appoint a Handover & Commissioning Manager to bridge the gap between building construction and building operation.

The Handover & Commissioning Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and management for the seamless transition of a variety of construction projects from completion of the building work to client use.

The Handover & Commissioning Manager will be client focused and act as the main point of contact between client, project team and contractor to ensure that completed projects are made operational in a timely manner. Ensuring commissioning is completed, handover of operational manuals to the maintenance team and resolving any defects during the projects defect liability period will be required.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced construction professional with an established track record of overseeing handover activities on capital construction projects on behalf of the client. We are looking for someone to:

  • Provide leadership of handover/commissioning management of a number of complex construction projects.
  • Lead on the initiation, planning and development of a handover and commissioning strategy.
  • Prepare suitable training plans to meet individual stakeholder needs.
  • Plan and lead the formal handover of completed construction projects to the users.
  • Provide support and assistance during the initial periods of occupation, including managing the rectification of any defects.
  • Manage the collation of information for the O&M manuals, ensuring its completeness and accuracy and handover to maintenance teams in a timely manner.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Appropriate academic qualification to degree level in a construction related discipline.
  • An established track record in a similar role.
  • Excellent working knowledge of NEC suite of contracts.
  • Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC suite of contracts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in relevant software and technology.
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
