Our client is currently seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their team on a contract basis. This position involves providing Local Implementation Plan Update support to the Infrastructure Team.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of an updated Local Implementation Plan, incorporating the city's future investment aspirations into supporting documents for the Greater Manchester 2040 Transport Strategy.
  • Work within the Infrastructure Team and collaboratively with other departments such as Highways, Landscape, Street Lighting, Property, Development, Investment and Maintenance teams, and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Update existing Local Implementation Plan documents, aligning them with wider transport strategy context and Infrastructure Pipeline and corporate plan aspirations.
  • Develop prospectus documents to support funding bids for project delivery, focusing on a TAG compliant and Greater Manchester CRSTS governance and business case route.
  • Compile high-level project cost estimates and maintain records to support continued updates to the Infrastructure Programme.
  • Prepare briefings for leadership team alongside Infrastructure colleagues.
  • Engage with and brief members and stakeholders in collaboration with Infrastructure colleagues.


Job Requirements:

  • Strong expertise in transport planning and an understanding of transportation strategies.
  • Experience in developing implementation plans and securing funding for transport projects.
  • Familiarity with Local Implementation Plans and regional transport strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with various stakeholders and preparing briefings.
  • Strong project management abilities, including estimating costs and maintaining programme updates.
