Your new companyA unique opportunity has arisen to join a forward-thinking council within their Planning and Building Control department as a Major Projects Officer. This vital role offers the chance to make a tangible impact on the community, driving sustainable and innovative development across the district. The role is a Monday-Friday, 6-month contract, Outside IR35, with Hybrid working in Nottinghamshire. Your new roleAs a Major Projects Officer, you will:

  • Manage and oversee major planning applications, ensuring high-quality developments that benefit the local economy, environment, and community.
  • Lead on Section 106 agreements, negotiating contributions toward affordable housing, public spaces, and transportation improvements.
  • Represent the council at planning appeals, hearings, and tribunals.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders, promoting investment and regeneration across the district.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex planning matters while supervising and supporting a dedicated team.

What you'll need to succeedTo excel in this role, you should bring:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in town planning, with demonstrable expertise in handling complex applications.
  • Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility to attain it.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to achieving results.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and contributing to the council's wider objectives.
