A client within the Public Sector based in Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for an Ecologist to join their Planning Policy Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in an ecological advisory environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to lead on delivering positive action to manage and increase biodiversity and natural capital, providing key advice and support to client and its partners.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Reviewing internal processes regarding the requirements of the Environment Act and making recommendations as to how the Council can improve/make more efficient the way it responds to them.
- Providing ecological advice at any stage as requested within the development management process (pre-application, screening, scoping, formal application, and enforcement).
- Providing ecological advice at any stage as requested within the Development Consent Order process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects including the Reservoir development.
- Assessing and advising on ecological impacts and appropriateness of any proposed mitigation and biodiversity enhancement measures.
- Assessing and advising on biodiversity net gain statements, metric assessments, and plans.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in an Ecology-related subject, or previous relevant experience with equivalent transferable skills and experience.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Thorough knowledge of wildlife legislation and the English planning system.
- Experience in biodiversity and green infrastructure planning, biodiversity net gain, and natural capital, especially in relation to land-use planning.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering 75 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (65 p/h PAYE).
