The Role;
Working with the planning team to ensure effective running of the day-to-day Knowles Logistics fleet.
Planning and manage effective movement of freight around the country, including providing strong planning of the operational logistics arm of the business.
Effective communication with the customer service team to meet the demands of the customer and providing the best customer service possible to internal and external stakeholders.
Must Haves
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a fast-paced transport or logistics environment
- Operator licencing awareness along with up-to-date knowledge of compliance such as gross weights, construction and use regulations, Working Time Directive and EU Drivers hours
- PC literate - Sound working knowledge of Microsoft packages, traffic management and warehouse management systems and any other IT/ web-based systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organised, self-sufficient, ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, act on own initiative and to tight deadlines
- Flexible in your approach to work and hours, adaptable to change
- UK geographical knowledge
- Good people skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Proactive with the ability to make quick decisions and to communicate changes swiftly to those affected
- A highly organised self starter, responsible for own actions and decisions
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure the effective running of the Knowles fleet through:
- Allocation of 100% of the daily plan against drivers and loads with the planners
- Following and updating the execution of the daily plan including systems updates
- Maximising drivers workers hours within the Tachograph and WTD framework
- Making decisions with planners on number of vehicles required to deliver shipments
- Communicate issues or failures that are unavoidable to the relevant parties
- Proactive management of the fleet - including making changes and replanning any load issues or drivers with planners
- Communication of the plan to all drivers to ensure the drivers are all in place at the correct times to collect loads and deliver them
- Briefing and Debriefing of drivers on the current day/night plans
- Working in tandem with the driver debrief administrators
- Attending daily operational meetings on a rota basis with timely information about the previous and current days plan
- Working together with the planners to achieve the customer requirements
- Reviewing load plans and looking at contingency strategies where necessary
- Entry of all movements of jobs onto the relevant PC and web based systems
- Reporting any concerns to the head of transport
- Working in tandem with the other transport operators within the team on the same shift or other shifts
- Raising any concerns over delivery with other teams and providing solutions for resolution
- Entering of all driver and vehicle information of the daily plan into Road Runner for the following 24 hours
- Updating Road Runner with live load information when debriefing drivers in person or over the phone
- Understanding and checking of the warehouse management system to foresee any issues with loads
- Answering telephone in a professional manner and dealing with field and customer enquiries.
- Speaking to drivers to understand their issues and offer resolutions in planning to the management of their loads.
- Portraying a professional appearance and manner at all times as a representative of Knowles Logistics Ltd
