What is a Cover Supervisor?
Cover supervisors are suitably trained school staff who supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
Duties:
- Register pupils in class
- Ensure pupils remain on task with cover work set by absent teacher
- Ensure high standards of behaviour in line with the school's policy
- Supervise pupils during break periods
- Support school events
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils and adhere to and ensure compliance with the School's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
- Work within the School's health and safety policy to ensure a safe environment for staff, pupils and visitors
- Undertake other reasonable duties related to the job purpose required from time to time
Academics are seeking Cover Supervisors in the Margate and across the Thanet area of Kent to keep up with the demand in covering absent teachers. Day to day, long term and permanent roles available which can be offered to suitable applicants on a part and full time basis.
What qualities and skills do you need to become a Cover Supervisor?
- Level 2 Qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent
- Ideally educated to at least degree level so you can offer a "Subject Specialism"
- Ability to effectively communicate with a range of audiences.
- Good behaviour management skills and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality.
- To be highly flexible and possess excellent time management and organisation skills
- Understanding of child safeguarding procedures
- To enjoy working with young people and are able to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and to recognise potential child safeguarding issues
- Passion for Education.
- Ability to use standard ICT packages including Microsoft Office
