This Business Development Manager role joins a rapid-growth SME selling services to the construction, rail and civil engineering sector. With a strong reputation and plenty of repeat business, they are looking to expand their team with a dedicated Business Development Manager to drive new business opportunities and secure sales with new clients, as well as maximising business with key existing accounts.

The Role:

As the Business Development Manager, you will be actively seeking out new business opportunities, building key industry relationships, and driving revenue. You will be responsible for generating leads, networking, and identifying new markets to enhance the company's presence in relevant markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively generate new business opportunities.

  • Identify and engage key decision-makers, contractors, suppliers, and developers.

  • Build and nurture strong relationships to open doors for potential partnerships.

  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the company.

  • Use social media and marketing activities to your advantage as a way of generating and building new relationships.

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.

  • Work closely with the operations team to understand the services offered, and the benefits to potential clients.

  • Key account manage existing relationships to ensure these are maximised.

  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and business growth objectives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management selling into the construction, rail, utilities and civil engineering sector, ideally bringing an industry network

  • Track record of building and maintaining successful business relationships.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • A self-motivated and target-driven individual with a proactive approach to generating leads.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a pipeline of opportunities.

  • Full UK driving license (travel will be required across the Midlands for client visits and networking events).
