Derbyshire County Council are looking to recruit a Principal Building Surveyor.

  • £Rates are negotiable.

The Role:

  • We are looking for a Principal Surveyor to join our team of property professionals looking after our diverse portfolio of buildings including care homes, schools, libraries, offices and historic buildings, supporting the delivery of core Council services across Derbyshire.
  • You will also be involved in our industrial portfolio and land assets which adds to the breadth of this exciting opportunity.
  • Reporting to the Head of Property Maintenance, you'll lead a multi-disciplinary team of surveyors and technical experts to support and deliver our Property Asset Management Strategy.
  • The role is integral to reshaping Derbyshire's varied property portfolio including historic listed buildings, the Derwent Valley World Heritage Corridor and a broad range of building types from traditional stone and brick to system builds and modern new constructions.
  • You will have the experience and enthusiasm to manage the team to provide an efficient and effective maintenance management and advice service, ensuring targets are achieved, and programmes of work and statutory compliance activities are delivered on time, within budget meeting legal and statutory requirements.
  • You will need a customer focused and innovative approach, substantial experience in the surveying industry and varied building maintenance disciplines, coupled with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
