Environmental Health Officer (Food)Midlands Based – Hybrid Working

Duration: 6 months

Start: ASAP

Rate: Negotiable depending on experience (Inside IR35)

Hybrid Working: You will be required to travel to sites in an around the area for two days per week

Our client is looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to deliver a range of duties related to providing the functions of the Business Compliance Team and in particular (although not exclusively) food hygiene, health and safety and infectious disease control functions

You will be required to investigate complaints, carry out programmed inspections and deliver projects related to business compliance and public health functions.

Responsibilities:

  • To deliver the Council’s responses and duties, in line with written policies, procedures, performance indicators and best practice in respect of the following services:-Food hygiene, Health and safety at work, Infectious disease control, Private water supplies, Welfare funerals, Other associated public health functions
  • To prepare evidence and appear in court and at inquiries as may be required
  • To competently and professionally prepare and issue statutory proceedings as designated to the post in accordance with the Councils Scheme of Delegation
  • To periodically work out of normal office hours in order to discharge the functions of the Business Compliance team and in accordance with the operational arrangements for out of hours working
  • To represent the Council, as required, at meetings of outside bodies, liaison with committees and other groups
  • To compile and maintain proper records relating to the duties of the post. To maintain records and data on the Council’s Environmental Health computer database system and GIS (Geographical Information System), as appropriate to the functions of the post
  • To prepare or assist with the preparation of reports for submissions to various committees of the Council and to present reports to those bodies when required to do so

Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc in Environmental Health
  • Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent
  • Qualifications and up to date documented competencies appropriate for officers undertaking official food hygiene controls
