ABPM have been retained by a multi-faceted third sector group who play a vital and compelling role in the community borne of their dedicated staff and services. With an established reputation for exceptional quality, delivery, and sensitivity, they wish to make this important appointment to their leadership team.

The remit is broad and exciting, with Finance, IT & Risk via Heads of Department reporting into this role, therefore providing a finance professional the opportunity to have an influential input to and as part of the leadership team.

The successful candidate will be seen as very much part of the leadership team and the key partner to the CEO, senior management teams and stakeholders. You will oversee the management of all financial resources with the SMT to manage risk and deliver a financial strategy that realises the priorities and future plans of the organisation. Instilling a strong commercial and analytical approach and mind-set throughout the organisation, a summary of your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Create a finance capability across the business, delivering a robust control framework that supports the business.
  • Critique the financial and investment plans such that they are aligned with objectives and goals.
  • Prioritise financial initiatives to ensure the business maximises its potential for asset base, revenue, its people and service users.
  • Develop and upgrade the business's MI to aid management decision-making, forecasting and budgeting in the delivery of the business plan.
  • Enhance the capability and develop the finance function, including systems upgrade / automation and the other departments that the role leads.
  • Be a proactive conduit to the organisations performance and forecasts.

In the new Director of Finance & IT, who must be a qualified ACA/ACCA/ACMA/CIPFA, we will seek a strong track record as a Finance Director/CFO in a privately held or subsidiary of a corporate company drawn from a commercial sector, but ideally with experience in the Third or Charity sector. Experience in these markets will be very beneficial to the ideal candidate. It is, however, a prerequisite to possess a deep understanding of the income, VFM drivers and KPIs of a B2B services environment with a recurring income model. Ultimately, the successful candidate should embody the business's relentless drive and energy for excellent results and performance.
