SEND Learning Assistant | Year 8 | Secondary School | Merton | London | 105-115 per day | Long Term Role | Starting ASAP

The Opportunity:

  • Support Year 8 students in a well-resourced mainstream secondary school, helping them achieve academic progress while managing challenging behaviours.
  • You will work collaboratively with the SENCo and teaching staff to implement strategies that support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, term-time only, with pay up to 115 per day.
  • The position is based in Lambeth, London, with excellent transport links and long-term career development opportunities in SEN and behaviour support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of the SENCo to implement effective support strategies
  • Strong behaviour management skills are essential to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group assistance to Year 8 students who require additional academic support
  • Help students remain engaged and focused during lessons, adapting materials where necessary
  • Support students with SEN needs, ensuring they feel confident and included in their learning
  • Assist students with coursework, organisation, and class participation
  • Liaise with teachers and support staff to track progress and adjust interventions accordingly

Who We're Looking For:

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification (essential).
  • Experience working in a secondary school or supporting students with SEN.
  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with students.
  • Ability to inspire and encourage students, creating a positive learning environment.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
