A rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate SEND professional to join a dedicated Additional Learning Support team as a SEND & Exam Access Arrangements Assessor.

This key role involves working collaboratively with learners, families, schools, internal staff and external agencies to assess, identify and implement tailored support strategies for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The post holder will be responsible for conducting specialist exam access arrangement assessments in line with current JCQ regulations, including administering WRAT tests and completing the associated reports.

The successful candidate will also be integral in screening Additional Learning Support (ALS) disclosures, planning support based on EHCPs, and supporting learners throughout their study programmes to maximise achievement and progression. This includes providing ongoing support and workshops for learners to build skills, confidence, and independence in line with their ALS plans.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct specialist assessments for exam access arrangements and complete relevant documentation (e.g. Form 8, Centre Notes).
  • Collaborate with the Exams Team to ensure timely evidence is submitted for learners requiring access arrangements.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure early identification and appropriate support planning for learners.
  • Deliver individual and group support sessions, including tailored workshops on assistive technology and social skills.
  • Contribute to the development of ALS strategies and EHCP outcomes aligned with learners' goals and the Preparing for Adulthood agenda.
  • Accurately record data using college management systems and maintain up-to-date documentation.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A recognised qualification in assessing for exam access arrangements (e.g. Level 7 SpLD Assessment Qualification).
  • In-depth understanding of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Experience working with young people and/or adults with a range of learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams.
  • A proactive, flexible approach to working hours to meet learner and departmental needs, including occasional evening or weekend events.
