Purchase Ledger Lead / Purchase Ledger Supervisor | £33,000 - £36,000 + suite of benefits (hybrid working) | Rotherham

The Opportunity

Rapidly growing, modern business based in South Yorkshire have an opportunity for an experienced Purchase Ledger professional (currently operating at Senior / Supervisor or Manager level).

You’ll be joining a business amid exciting change - they are investing heavily and swiftly in expansion, new systems (including invoice automation) and new faces.

This specific role reports to the Financial Controller - a highly approachable, supportive and likeable mentor who will give you plenty of autonomy and refreshing ownership.

Your role is all things AP. You’ll manage and develop a capable AP Assistant who will be involved in supporting with the nuts and bolts of the transactions and processes.

There’s lots to get stuck into but in a sensible and manageable timeframe - it’s a busy role but expectations are realistic and again there is an awareness of work-life balance within the group.

You’ll have an opportunity to use your AP expertise to make this role your own and really add value. The natural next step is into the role of AP Manager as the business continues to expand and there is scope to also pick up other areas of transactional finance (e.g. AR) downstream if that would be of interest to the successful candidate.

Required:

  • Thorough understanding of Purchase Ledger for a reasonably sized business (£25m+ turnover).
  • Awareness of a modern approach to AP (including systems / automated scanning etc).
  • A hands on approach and no fear of digging down into the detail.
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior members of a team.
  • Ability to improve controls and make processes highly efficient and effective.
  • Ability to work in a cohesive team.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Proactivity when it comes to making improvements. Spotting and highlighting trends, working with colleagues to make processes slicker.
