Join Rotherham Council in a pivotal role as the Assistant Director of Housing, where you will lead and manage significant aspects of the housing services. This role is central to driving housing growth, ensuring regulation compliance, overseeing repairs, and reshaping our services to support the Council's net zero ambitions.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead the strategic and operational management of the Housing Service, which manages over 20,000 council homes.
  • Drive the delivery of an ambitious housing growth programme, including the construction of hundreds of affordable homes and planning for more.
  • Ensure productive partnerships with the private, community, and voluntary sectors, maintaining excellent tenant engagement.
  • Play an active role in delivering Sheffield City Region housing objectives and collaborate closely with Homes England.
  • Prepare the service for regulation and provide professional housing advice to senior political post holders to support effective decision-making and governance.
  • Lead, manage, and inspire housing teams, fostering a partnership ethos and approach to meet and exceed service delivery standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of leading and managing change within housing or a similar sector, achieving improved service delivery outcomes.
  • Strong strategic and operational management skills, with the ability to oversee large-scale projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, capable of effectively communicating with and engaging stakeholders to forge successful partnerships.
  • Creative and innovative thinking with a commitment to promoting service improvement and implementing change as needed.
  • Experience in providing leadership in a complex stakeholder environment, with a focus on excellent tenant engagement and partnership working.
