Jackson Hogg are happy to be supporting one of our clients in their search for a Project Engineer with an Electrical / Systems bias.
Purpose of Job
Provide Systems Engineering support and development across the mills,including project and plant support. Responsible to the Plant Engineer and / or Lead Engineers for managing CAPEX & Major Maintenance projects, as well as the day-to-day Process Control requirements within the mills.
Accountabilities of a Project Engineer
- Implementation of CAPEX work and develop & support systems across both plants.
- Responsible for Process Control systems and networks, including communication to and from business level I.T. systems.
- Support the plant maintenance teams with PLC and SCADA issues.
- Develop, scope, cost and deliver specified projects, on time and within budget.
- Develop and implement process improvement activities.
- Deliver projects in a safe manner, conforming to agreed engineering and integrity standards.
- Set and agree standards and goals with Plant Engineer.
- Provide / source specialist technical support as agreed by the Plant Engineer.
- Deliver training packages for assigned projects.
- Hand-over completed projects to the recognised area owners.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new business standards.
- Ensure all statutory and mandatory safety, health and environmental engineering standards are implemented and applied within area(s) of responsibility.
- Ensure that designated responsibilities under the COMAH regulations are implemented and applied within area of responsibility.
- Monitor plant performance; carry out route cause analysis of significant failures and implement solutions.
- Liaise with all Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure effective and smooth introduction of new equipment, capital spend and process improvement technologies.
- Advise on operating and environmental parameters and maintenance strategy to ensure the safe and cost efficient operating of both plant and process.
Knowledge and Experience
The jobholder should ideally have a minimum Engineering Degree, or equivalent, in Process Control / Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation.
The jobholder should also have experience of working in heavy industrial engineering, familiar with PLC programming (Gem80 and Siemens S7) and communications, SCADA (Fix32 / iFix) fault finding, closed loop control and AC / DC Drives..
Effective man management/supervisory skills and also a highly motivated self-starter with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
