Position: Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

Position Description:

  • Create, develop, implement and sustain the Health, Safety Plan and Environmental Plan.
  • Develop and maintain occupational health, safety and environmental systems and procedures based upon approved policy plans
  • Provide continuing advice, guidance and assistance to Line Management on matters pertaining to occupational health, safety and environmental obligations
  • Prepare specialised documentation and liaise with external organisations and authorities on all relative matters
  • Assist in accident investigation and ensure preventative measures are implemented
  • Manage the group incident, near miss and safety observation management system.
  • Present OH&S statistics and report monthly to senior management and group.
  • Implement action plans and improvement projects though line of sight and other formats to maintain the Company philosophy on OH&S and environmental matters. Statutory and Company Monitoring
  • Stay up to date with current and upcoming changes in appropriate health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Give advice on timescales and legal requirements of monitoring in line with current legislation regarding health and safety
  • Make the necessary changes to procedures in line with legislation amendments
  • Communicate statutory requirements to all personnel in an easy to understand and timely fashion
  • Monitor employee, visitor and contractor behaviour and record all accidents, near misses and safety observations (positive and negative) and record in appropriate system.
  • Co-ordinate medical examinations, hearing tests, return to work programmes Training
  • Initiate and co-ordinate education and training programmes for works grades so that they may develop their own potential
  • Provide information and training to all employees in all aspects of OH&S
  • Carry out Health and Safety induction of all employees Installation Site Work
  • Provide guidance on methods of safe systems of work
  • Support in the creation of risk assessment and method statements (RAMS)
  • Establish contact with client and agree site visit schedule
  • Promote OH&S awareness with sub-contractors and erection installation teams
  • Customer site visits as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with site specific rules: - Tool Box Talks - Inspections - Reporting Procedure

Qualifications And Experience:

  • NEBOSH diploma in safety or environment Environmental certificate / qualification
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in a safety biased role in heavy industry or manufacturing
  • A minimum of 3 years in a management role

Responsibilities to include:

Position: Full Time with an immediate start

Hours of work: Mon- Thursday 9.00am -17.00pm, Friday 8.00am – 2.00pm

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Holidays: Full time - 25 days per year (Holiday year Jan – Dec) + 8 Bank holidays, Pro rata for part time.

Life Insurance: 3 times basic salary whilst in employment

Pension Scheme: Automatic enrolment if meet criteria, 5% Employee, 3% Employer. After 1 year in April – Age related up to max 6.5%.
