Hays HR is delighted to be supporting a family-owned business on the recruitment of an HR Assistant to join them on a permanent basis. The role will report to the HR Manager and will cover multiple offices across the Middlesbrough region.Your new roleWithin your new position you will work closely with the HR team supporting on day-to-day HR duties and work closely with the managers while ensuring there is a positive culture within the organisation. This is a newly created position within the HR function, and an ideal role for an HR professional looking to gain more generalist HR experience within a fast-paced organisation. This role would also be suitable for an HR professional not looking to develop quickly into an HR Manager role or looking to move away from a more senior position. Responsibilities will include:
- Provide a strategic focus on the recruitment strategy; building talent pools and succession planning
- Build strong working relationships with training partners
- HR Project work - taking the lead on recruitment projects
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the HR Function
- Ensuring employee records are updated and in line with compliance / GDPR
- Support recruitment and onboarding processes, including drafting job adverts, coordinating interviews, and preparing contracts.
- Handle HR queries from employees, providing first-line advice on policies and procedures
- Assist in maintaining HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with UK employment law.
- Support disciplinary and grievance procedures by preparing documentation and arranging meetings.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in an HR Assistant position
- Experience in supporting on recruitment activities
- Strong organisational skills with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and HR systems
- Understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices (or willingness to learn)
- CIPD Level 3 qualification (or working towards)
