The purpose of the mechanical technician is to lead the mechanical technicians to troubleshoot and repair plant mechanical equipment, perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and statutory testing.

Reporting to the Machines Engineer you will be resonsible for;

  • Installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, wide variety of industrial mechanical items such as pumps, agitators, mechanical seals, heat exchangers and valves. Provide access and install isolations to enable vessels and reactors to be inspected.
  • Executing preventative maintenance inspections on mechanical equipment, in line with agreed procedures.
  • Perform statuary inspections and testing.
  • Understanding, evaluating, and executing the tests and procedures properly and setting up documentation and control procedures.
  • Safely and efficiently execute daily tasks related to calibration and instrumentation activities.
  • Generate Instrument Deviation Reports (IDR) for out of tolerance calibrations of process instrumentation and promptly notify the Maintenance Manager.
  • Developing and improving maintenance procedures

Qualifications and Experience;

  • Proven work experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role, within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Qualified to a minimum S/NVQ Level 3
  • Experience of glassware would also be advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge.
