Function:

To carry out reception, booking in and quality control of submitted samples within the working system, as directed by the Day Supervisor. This will include all sample reception activities, from collecting and unpacking samples through to booking-in and quality checking.

Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Unpacking samples and associated paperwork to an acceptable standard and in accordance with established procedures and maintaining accurate records of samples.

Performing sample booking to an acceptable standard and in accordance with established procedures and maintaining accurate records of samples.

Checking all sample data entries and correcting where required.

Reporting to the Day Supervisor apparently misgraded samples or other anomalies which cannot be corrected from the sample paperwork.

Booking in and checking in accordance with the objectives set out by the Day Supervisor.

Producing BIF sheets for samples received and input of sample data to the laboratory management system.

Liaising with Day Supervisor, Day technicians and QC Staff to ensure smooth handover of samples for analysis.

Ensuring all work carried out in the Laboratory follows the agreed procedures as set out in the local Management system.

Advising the Day Supervisor and/or Laboratory Supervisor of any Practical or Operational or QHSE issues that arise during the working shift.

Undertaking any additional miscellaneous duties, as directed by the Laboratory Manager and/or Day Supervisor.

Complying with the Shift system, shift rota & weekend working systems as directed by the Laboratory Manager.

Participating in data collection for KPI or other efficiency studies as required by the Laboratory Manager.

The role is 80% admin based but the candidate also has to be prepared to be hands on collection samples and handling sample bottles etc.

The role doesn't involve lab work or analysis.

For the right person, this a temp to perm role.
