Hello Education are proud to be supporting an Independent School for young people aged 11 – 19 years with additional social, emotional and mental health needs. The education offered by this school is tailored to the pupils’ individual needs, delivered in a structured, holistic classroom environment, benefitting from high staff to student ratios. This is a full time permanent role (dependant on a successful probationary period)
It is also important to consider that working in an SEMH school can bring with it some challenging behaviour. Therefore, it is important that the successful teacher has good behaviour management and ideally possess de-escalation training.
Teacher Requirements
- Able to deliver Maths to a high standard
- Experience in teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies
- Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach
- Experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication teaching background
- Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
- Experience working with disengaged teenagers is essential
- Have an understanding and working knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice
Candidates should be versatile, enthusiastic and flexible, with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work independently, creatively and positively, using their own initiative. The role is Temp to Perm Monday – Friday.
