As Financial Controller you will be required to work alongside the Chief Executive Officer and Finance Manager to make sure the Management and Financial accounts are produced in a timely manner. You will assist the Finance Manager with running the finance function and provide cover for the Finance Manager where applicable.

As a senior member of the organisation, you will be required to work with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.

You will work closely with the Finance Manager and take full ownership of the production of budgeting process, forecasting, and production of management accounts. Clear communication and excellent attention to detail are fundamental prerequisites.

Responsibilities

Forecasting/Actual Reporting

  • Working closely with Finance Manager to take ownership of an accurate forecasts spanning a rolling 12-month period. It is critical that these forecasts represent a balanced view of how the business is likely to trade based on current opportunities and threats.
  • Production of revenue reconciliations
  • Maintenance of Last Twelve Months (LTM) trading analysis
  • Production of monthly Gross Margin analysis.
  • Production of monthly management accounts - reporting on key commercial drivers.

Reporting

  • Production of monthly reporting packs - Balance Sheet, P&L and Cash Flow
  • Work with Chief Executive Officer to produce a high-level rolling 2yr plan - including P&L, BS and CF.

Working Capital

  • Working with the Finance Manager to maintain healthy working capital cycles.
  • Responsible for making sure the P&L, BS and CF is reported accurately, and these are maintained within the businesses accounting software.

Commercial

  • Working with Chief Executive Officer, and Finance Manager to drive commercial improvements to maximise the return for the business.

Financial Modelling

  • Supporting the business with financial modelling where required, particularly for new business opportunities to make sure that the company is tendering for healthy margin business. Constructively challenge where opportunities fail to commercially satisfy the company.

Statutory

  • Take ownership, lead, and co-ordinate with the external accountants.
  • Own annual R&D credit reporting working alongside external accountants.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience post qualification (ACCA / CIMA)
  • Advanced Excel
  • Competent using Xero and Dynamics (Advantageous)
  • M&A/Involvement in a significant event (Highly Beneficial)
