Accounts Assistant

We are working exclusively with our long-standing client who are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in this newly created position. This role offers a chance to develop, working closely with the other members of the Management Accounts team and the Commercial team. Reporting to the Assistant Management Accountant, they will engage in a broad range of financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to accompany management accounts
  • Support in preparing management accounts across multiple companies
  • Review weekly payment runs prior to final approval
  • Review and maintain supporting management account schedules
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
  • Perform monthly non-PO analysis
  • Analyse monthly expenditures for review and annual reporting
  • Monthly VAT returns
  • Complete monthly Intrastat submissions
  • Provide audit preparation and support at year-end
  • Perform other duties as required.

The Candidate:

  • Attention to detail & ability to multitask
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work within a team
  • Ability to pick up new skills quickly and efficiently
  • Work under pressure and achieve deadlines
  • Methodical and accurate working practice
  • Good understanding of accounting standards
  • Minimum Level 3 AAT (or actively working towards completing this level)
  • IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel (with a focus on pivot tables and data validity)

The role is based in a rural location west of Milton Keynes and within commutable distance of Buckingham, Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Towcester, Northampton, Brackley, and Banbury.

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full Time (Monday to Friday)

Holidays: 22 days holiday + statutory bank holidays.
